創作動機

台中第一廣場，現名東協廣場，偶然地在網路上看到一則專題報導而認識了這個地方。

第一廣場幾乎是全台灣最大的東南亞外籍移工聚集地，在一棟地上13層、地下3層的建築物裡聚集了各種東南亞異國商店，食衣住行育樂都有。然而對於台中人來說，第一廣場是一個禁地，一個破敗的地方，一個治安死角，充滿東南亞移工。但對於來自東南亞各地的勞動者來說，這樣被台灣人遺棄的地方，是他們的天堂。「每個星期日，他們一週中唯一的休息日，聚會在大樓裡吃飯、唱歌、泡妞、做愛，唯有這些時刻，讓他們重新感受自己像個人，而不是一枚無差異的勞動力。」

The First Square in Taichung, now called “ASEAN Square”. We accidentally know this place in an editorial coverage.

The First Square is the biggest place where migrant workers gather together. In the building contains 13 floors and 3 floors underground, there are many store from Southeast Asia, includes all kinds of things we need in life. However, for local people in Taichung, the First Square is a place where no one goes, a damaged place, with little police patrol and high crime rate and a place full of migrant workers. But for people from Southeast Asia. The Frist Square is abandoned by Taiwanese, it’s their heaven. “Every Sunday. The only day off in a week. Gather in the building, having meal, singing, picking girls up and having sex. It’s the only time when feel alive again, instead of just being a machine.”
